Park Master Plans Update

The City of Monroe is creating two long-range master plans for Lake Tye Park and the Cadman Site, which is adjacent to Skykomish River Park. Both plans will chart improvements, guide funding strategies, and help define the future of these parks.

To involve the public in shaping the future of these parks, the City of Monroe hosted two pop-up planning studios and two open houses on September 15th and 16th at the Boys and Girls Club and at Lake Tye Park to gather input from our community.  Both the pop-up studios and the open houses were well attended by the public.

In addition to the pop-up studios and open houses, interested stakeholders had the option to take an online survey to answer questions and provide comments about their vision for the two parks. The online survey was very popular and the number of responses has exceeded everyone’s expectations.

Our contracted consultant, HBB Landscape Architects of Seattle, have condensed the data and ideas that the community brought forth and presented preliminary ideas to both the Monroe City Council and Park Board in a joint meeting on September 26 & October 24.  Next steps will include refining the concepts more review and public input, with City Council adoption of the master plans to occur in January 2018.

The next public open house will be held on Wednesday, November 1 from 6-8pm at the Monroe Boys & Girls Club located at 261 Sky River Parkway.

We would like to hear from you!

Please Take the Online Community Survey and share the link with your Monroe friends and neighbors!

This survey offers those unable to attend the November 1 Open House the chance to weigh in on emerging plans for both parks.

We'll ask for feedback on the updated "vision" for each park first, then seek input on the actual designs for both schemes. Finally, we'll ask what types of features you think ought to be addressed first, helping develop phasing strategies for the City to tackle. Note that we've provided room for written comments - so please spend an extra few minutes to share your thoughts and insights. And because both plans cover a lot of space - and include many details - you'll want to see them on the largest screen you can manage. Hopefully, you'll be able to complete this questionnaire where you can see all of each plan, zoom in on details and read all the notes we've included.
