trail

This special event, a Walk for fun and fitness with Volkssporters, will be held on Saturday October 20, 8:00-11:00. Start any time between 8am and 11am and finish by 2pm at the Senior Center for a fun walk around Monroe. This is a free Non-competitive Volkssport Event offering three marked trails on relatively easy flat paths. You can walk a 5km (3.1 mile) fun historic walk around the Skykomish River Park over to Lewis Street, up to Main street past the old town historical buildings and back along Main street to 179 Ave and Village way past the Library. The Monroe Historical Society has offered to open the Museum for a checkpoint. The walk should take about an hour to an hour and a half. You can also walk 11k (7 miles) by continuing the walk on the new city walkways to Lake Tye and back through greenbelt trails and parks. This walk should take about two and a half hours. A 14km (8.7mile) walk is also available by adding a walk around Lake Tye. This walk will take about three hours. The walks are a national Volkssport event sponsored by Interlaken Trailblazers Volkssport Club, the Senior Center, the City of Monroe and the Monroe Historical Society. Everybody of all ages is welcome for this free marked and mapped walk. Volkssport credit is offered for $3.00. Get some healthy exercise and learn about your city history and parks and Volkssporting. We expect about 150 walkers over the three hour start time. Registration will be in the Senior Center on the day of the event in conjuction with their pancake breakfast.
