MONROE – June 5, 2012, at 08:07 am: Monroe Police Detectives were eye witnesses to an assault that occurred after a reported road rage incident that occurred on Fryelands Boulevard in Monroe. The incident apparently started after one of the drivers believed they were cut off by the other driver as two vehicles proceeded northbound on Fryelands Boulevard. The GMC pickup truck and Chevrolet SUV came to a side-by-side stop as they waited for the light at the intersection of Fryelands and SR 2 in Monroe.
It was then that the detectives observed the driver of the pickup, a 40 year old male from Arlington, and the passenger in the SUV, a 28 year old male from Monroe, in an animated verbal exchange and gesturing. The driver of the pickup then left his vehicle and began punching at the passenger through the open window. As detectives approached, the driver of the pickup got back in his vehicle as the female driver; age 28 from Monroe, of the SUV got out of her vehicle and stepped in front of the pickup. The pickup began to move forward as the female started backing up with her hands on the hood. The pickup sped up as the female was being dragged on the pavement. She fell as the pickup made a right turn onto SR 2. The detectives reached the scene requesting aid for the female victim. She was transported to Valley General Hospital with minor injuries. There were no injuries to the male passenger and two children, ages 2 and 4, who were in the backseat of the SUV.
Kent M. Lake, age 40 of Arlington was arrested and transported to the Snohomish County Jail for booking on two Assault 4 charges.
