MONROE – December 3, 2014: At 3:01 pm, police and fire responded to a plane upside down in a field at the Firstair Field airport in the City of Monroe. The pilot, a 66-year-old male from Monroe, was attempting a landing at the airfield when the plane left the runway to the left, flipping onto its top. The pilot said he had taken the Glasair GlaStar kit aircraft out for a leisurely ride in the area and was returning back to the airfield. There were no injuries reported, the pilot was the sole occupant.
The Monroe Police Department is investigating the incident; the Federal Aviation Administration was notified.
