Officers were dispatched to a report of a man with a knife who had just stolen a purse in the 17000 block of 157th St SE, Monroe. Upon arrival, officers contacted the 42-year-old female victim from Snohomish who explained that her ex-boyfriend had threatened her with a knife, grabbed her purse along with another bag she was holding and fled the area. Officers surrounded the area, deployed a K-9 tracking unit and searched the area for two hours. They were unable to locate the suspect.
As the search of the area came closer to Fryelands Elementary, police advised the school district of the situation. School officials brought children in from recess and placed the school in a precautionary lockdown. Officers cleared the area around 3 pm and advised the school that they could end the lockdown.
Officers are continuing the investigation of this incident and the search for the 42-year-old male from Snohomish.
