News Flash Template

MONROE, Wash. – Just after 6:30 a.m., Monroe Police Officers responded to a car-versus-pedestrian collision in the area of 18800 US-2. Tragically, the pedestrian, a 26-year-old Monroe woman, did not survive her injuries and was pronounced deceased at a local hospital.

Preliminary information gathered on scene indicates the woman was struck in the westbound lanes, in an uncontrolled area of the highway. The involved vehicle, an unmarked King County Sheriff’s Office vehicle, was being driven by a King County Sheriff’s employee. The driver cooperated with the investigation. Their vehicle was taken to the Monroe Police Department for further examination and analysis.

The collision and resulting investigation caused a closure of the westbound lanes of US-2 for approximately three hours. A detour was established using Blueberry Lane S.E.

The Monroe Police Department is leading the investigation, with support from the Washington State Patrol.
