Public-initiated Comprehensive Plan Amendments
Following extensive outreach, the City’s 2024-2044 Comprehensive Plan was adopted by the City Council in late 2024. To ensure the Comprehensive Plan meets its goals and objectives reflective of the Monroe community’s vision, the City conducts an annual process to consider proposed amendments to its Comprehensive Plan. As part of this amendment process, the City accepts requests from interested persons who propose changes to the Comprehensive Plan in the following areas:
- Change of goals, policies and implementation measures
- Change to future land use map
- Change of Urban Growth Boundary
- Change to an element of the Comprehensive Plan
- Technical corrections
Individuals, property owners, and neighborhood organizations interested in submitting an amendment to be considered in the 2025-2026 amendment cycle must complete and submit an “Public-initiated Amendment Request” by July 31, 2025 at 5 p.m. to Amy Bright, Planner, at abright@monroewa.gov. Visit our Comprehensive Plan Amendment webpage for more information.
