This project replaces the aging sewer main and water main under a portion of S. Taft Lane, beginning south of McDougall Street and ending at an existing manhole located approximately 300 feet north of McDougall Street. Associated side sewers and water services will be replaced. New side sewer cleanouts and water meter boxes will be installed within the City right-of-way. The alley and adjacent properties will be restored to existing conditions.
Every reasonable effort will be made to maintain property access during construction, however, at times there will be closures of the alley behind your property/residence. The contractor will provide signage directing property owners and occupants to the nearest free access point during construction and crews will also coordinate with residents to ensure free egress prior to alley closure. The contractor will provide access for garbage pickup.
The project will require up to three scheduled potable water service shut downs, which will be directly coordinated with those affected customers prior to the service shutdown times.
City Staff are finalizing the contract documents and plan to advertise for contractor bids in March 2021. Construction activities are expected to begin by May 2021, with most work substantially complete by July 2021.
The topographic survey was completed in March and April. City Staff are working on the design and preparing the contract documents this Winter.
