The City prepares the 6-year Transportation Improvement Plan every year. Beginning in April and continuing into June, staff discuss with committees and Council the City's priorities for street improvements while ensuring that the projects stay aligned with the adopted Comprehensive Plan.
The Revised Code of Washington (RCW’s) requires cities to develop a perpetual 6-year transportation improvement plan (TIP) that focuses on plans for street projects within the next six years. The TIP needs to be consistent with the City’s adopted Comprehensive Plan.
The City of Monroe updates the TIP every year. The process includes discussing the proposed TIP with city council, holding a public hearing on the matter, and eventually adopting the TIP by resolution.
