Gateway/Wayfinding Signs

The City of Monroe is working to update the City’s gateway and wayfinding signs. This important project will create gateway signs that will greet visitors and residents at main entrances into the city with a sign design that reflects the City's identity and makes a good first impression. The project will also include a vehicular and pedestrian wayfinding sign program that will help people navigate through the community and promote economic development by highlighting key destinations and attractions. 

Design Effort
In September 2019, a Request for Proposals was published in which seven proposals were submitted.

Final Design
Tangram Design's final design includes several groups or families of signs, ranging from gateway monuments to post-mounted directional (wayfinding) signs. All together, 88 assemblies are proposed throughout Monroe! You can see the final designs by clicking Proposed Wayfinding Signs.

Due to the large quantity of signs being proposed, this project will be constructed in three phases. Phase 1 will construct the two gateway monuments, while Phases 2 and 3 will each construct about half of the signs.

Construction Updates

Phase 1 is now complete, having installed the two gateway monuments during the last week of May. We are looking forward to Phase 2 later this fall!

Phase 2 is underway with the sign fabricator installing four large Historic Downtown markers and two directory kiosks.
