Downtown area permit fees waived through June 14, 2020.
Based on the City of Monroe Downtown Master Plan, the City has taken action to support private investment in downtown; create an attractive, unique place for people to shop and dine; and create community space for events. The City most recently allowed businesses the opportunity for outdoor dining and shopping, using the newly expanded walk-able streetscape. This provides opportunities that are different than what customers experience by shopping on the web or at convenience malls.
Downtown is UNIQUE! Let’s capitalize on that.
While permits are still needed, to encourage private investment in Downtown Monroe, the City has temporarily waived permit fees in the Downtown Planning Area (see map on the back), reducing development costs to building owners, business owners, and developers.
The City is committed to assisting you with your specific needs so that we can strengthen our downtown together.
